Batiary: Lviv’s Old-Time Hipsters

Soon cinemas all over the country will show a new Ukrainian comedy called “Noble Tramps” (“Шляхетні Волоцюги”). The movie uncovers a story where the main characters are batiary – the unique Lviv subculture that appeared in Galicia in the 19th century. Despite the lack of information, the subculture is being revived nowadays. So, who were the old Lviv hipsters?
